Default Replacing rotors...

I want to change the front rotors on my 04 XJ8. I need to remove the mount bracket holding the rotor via two bolts. Can I simply remove these bolts with a little liquid wrench and muscle or do i need a air gun. Is there anything else i need to know. As far as I can see its a simple job of out with the old and in with the new

If you don't have an impact wrench then try a breaker bar. I removed the caliber pins first and got the caliper out of the way and then went at those 2 bolts.

I dont have a breaker bar. Maybe I'll try a good dose of liquid wrench, a closed wrench and a long pipe...

I don't know if the liquid wrench will help but it can't hurt. I read somewhere that the factory uses a little thread locker to keep the bolts in place. Get a good grip on them and you'll get them off. It's easier with the calibers out of the way. It might be a good time to replace your pads also. I put ceramic on and they are great....stop well and very little dust.

I've never used an impact wrench or wd40, just a breaker bar, and I've never had carrier bolts I couldn't removed. Most break loose quite easily. As stated though, I'll first remove the caliper assembly, another very simple operation - remove two caliper pins (8mm allen wrench behind plastic cap sealers). Keep the caliper pins oriented in the same locations upon assembly.
