You are in the wrong forum section - this one is for 98-03 XJ8 and XJR models.

The thread title says"Jaguar XJ8/XJ6/XJR 2004-newer". How is that the wrong place for my inquiry?

Art, a dealer will quote you about $450 - $600 installed. I wouldn't let some kid at a big box store touch my car so I worked it into the deal when I bought my car. My dealer installed the Starmate which retails for $89 through Sirius.

To the best of my knowledge there are three places to hide the radio - the glovebox (inconvenient reach when you're driving, IMHO), in place of the ashtray under the Nav, or in the cubby between the front seats.

Mine's between the seats, but I personally like the ashtray option if your installer is clever enough to hide it under the little wood popup door. You'll see most Jaguars that came with it installed when new had it under the Nav, but the installer removed the wooden door covering the ash tray and put it there surrounded by black plastic. I like the under the door approach (there are photos in this forum somewhere) because you keep that nice wood door and the radio is easy to reach.

Oh, and mine came with a tiny remote control - which provides no end of entertainment for my kids in the back seat!

On the main forum page if you peruse at the titles you can realize that you posted into the X308 (1998-2003) , this place is between 2004-2010 .
We have another forum for the present XJ Forums it says 2011-....
