Searching for TSB - Shift cable bracket loosening
I read that a TSB exists for a problem where the shifter cable bracket on the side of the transmission comes loose after the retaining bolts work their way out. Would anyone have that TSB?
My car is a 2005 XJ8L, 4.2L, with a ZF 6HP26 transmission. |
No but it's dead easy to check?
Just get under the car and look. The cable is only attached with two small bolts and it will be very easy to tell. . . . |
Thanks, clubairth1! Unfortunately, I recently had bypass surgery and a stroke, so I'm unable to climb under the car for a while. I was hoping to get that TSB in case I have to send the car to a local garage. Not the best of times.

Any garage can do it if you just say it's the 2 bolts holding the shift cable to the trans side, under the car. I don't think there is a TSB but you don't need it if there is!

Here are the TSBs/Service Actions we got when I was at the dealer.

Sorry to hear of your problems but be happy that this is a very minor problem and quickly fixed once you take a look! The key is to use Lock-tite when installing the 2 small bolts. Never have another problem after that!
Motorcarman thanks for the TSB's too! . . . |
