Default Single Airshock Bottoming Out?

I noticed recently that the front drivers side air shock has been bottoming out when traveling through rough intersections. The car travels up then comes back down with force, all the other corners of the car hold fine but the one shock the tire hits the wheel liner - sometimes with a lot of force.

The liner is scuffed right through in one spot from bottoming out repeatedly and it seems that recently it got worse.

The air compressor is operating normally and I am not getting any suspension fault messages in the cluster. It does not appear that there is any air leaks.

Ideas?

I would suggest the shock absorber is shot, even though the air spring part is OK. Could be time for a new one, but get it checked out first. Any oil leaks from the spring unit ?
