smartphone bluetooth connectivity with Jaguar
#22
I'm hoping to find a way to use my iPhone 6SPlus with the existing system in my 2006 XJ8.
I called Jaguar customer service and they said that the Jaguar Voice phone/bluetooth option is only compatible up to iPhone 4.
Is there a way I can upgrade it? I don't want to have to plug anything into my cigarette lighter, and I would like to be able to just use the voice button on the steering wheel.

Guys, I bought for 100.00 the new updated Bluetooth module and replaced the antenna and the box and now the Bluetooth connects immediately, even when I haven't started the car. The pairing is also just as fast. In 08-up, they had a revision and the revised box is the one you want. I sold the one that came in the car for 100.00, so I broke even. It pairs up so fast that all I do when I get a new phone go into Bluetooth settings on my phone and it finds the Jaguar car instantly and then I put in the 4 digit code and its paired. No more of that messing around trying to make it work. I did that last year and it holds as many phones as you can connect to it. I have a IPhone 6S and my wife has a Galaxy 7 Edge and they are instant hook ups. Find a wrecked car and buy the module out of it. Trust me its worth the effort.

Someone wanted a picture. What you are looking at is the rack unscrewed and up ended so you can see the back.
On the bottom is the Bluetooth module, next one up VACM( Voice Activated Control Module), next two are NAV and CD changer.
All power connections were already there, just taped flat against the harness.
I was wired for ICE ( In Car Entertainment) and that was simply looped with a short fiber optic cable. All the fiber optic cables were marked with yellow tags.
This is an "old" view as I have since replaced the kluged cable antennae with a BMW antennae that was mentioned in this forum.

I would be most appreciative if you could tell me how to pair my iPhone 6S plus with my 2006 jaguar XJ8. I tried looking in my manuals and couldn't find anything. Thank you so much!
I have a 2007 XJ Super V8 and the factory bluetooth connects instantly to my iphone 6plus. You can pair the phone (only 1 phone at a time but you can replace any phone with another any time). You can also download your phone book from your smartphone into your car's phone directory. Let me know if you need help on how to do these 2 things.

Thank you to all who have offered information on this so please forgive ignorant questions. I do not fully understand the difference between Bluetooth capability and pre-wired phone capability. My 02 Xtype book showed pictures of a phone fitted into the console which was not present when I bought the car used. My present 04 xj8 seems to have newer setup for pairing with any external phone via Bluetooth. Are these two completely different systems for talking on a phone in a jaguar? If I took pictures of rear chamber of my car and its empty wiring plugs, will that help determine what exact box I need? If I push a phone command button now, screen says PHONE NOT FITTED same as the 02 screen would say. If someone who has a working factory Bluetooth system with nav screen and cd changer in boot would post image of their rear chamber with the connectors showing, that would help me a lot before I spend money on a box that might not work in my car.
