Soon to be Jaguar Owner
Hello All,
my wife’s grandmother is selling her 2004 Jaguar XJ8 to us and I’m curious to hear fellow XJ8 owners recommendations.
The vehicle is a 2004 with roughly 92K Miles.
I can see from the car fax report that the car had it’s normal 10/20/30/40mi Jaguar and a few other odds and ends done.
im interested to hear what maintenance and service I should perform as the car is nearing 100k miles.
thanks!
dan

Probably your biggest nuisance will be the short life of the suspension bushes, and possibly a failure of some of the air suspension components, the compressor for the air suspension gradually wears out its piston seal. The heater matrix is also notorious for blocking-up causing a lack of heat into the passenger cabin.
If you could list what work has been done on the car, we can fill in the gaps you may have to look at. I exclude from this, the normal brakepads/discs, as these will probably be the third or even fourth set by now.
I had two X350s, one a 2003, first year of build, and then a 2007. The 2003 gave me much more trouble than the 2007 even though it had lower miles on it. Typical for a car in its first year on sale. I think.
As you say it is your wife's grandmother selling you the car, I would think it has been driven fairly gently and will have been well looked after, so should be a good buy,
