Steering Wheel Insignia
I am looking at photos of an '04 XJ8 being offered for sale. Instead of the jaguar face insignia on the steering wheel, there is a fancy letter D. What does that mean? I am guessing it stands for Daimler but wonder what I should infer from this. Thanks in advance.

Hi vaclone,
Does it look like this? Daimler is a UK up-market brand of Jaguar. The US version is the Vanden Plas. It could be either a Canadian car or a grey market car would be my guess. What about other insignias or labels?
Good luck,
Mike

How about this? This from the Daimler website. I'm guessing it's a grey market car from Europe. Unless it's got the US certification stickers indicating it's compliant with US regulations I would stay away from it. The technicians who are XJ8/R experts would be your best source of information though.

Yes, it looks like the one from the Daimler website. If it's a grey market car, it might explain why the dealer is listing it at a couple thousand dollars less than another '04 that has 4k more miles.
