Stroke of genius or madness?
So while looking up parts for my XJR, I came to thinking...would an XF supercharged engine fit in my bay? Along with it's tranny? Now let me put it out there, my xjr's tranny has been giving me some hicups lately, well frankly for a long time. They havent gotten worse, but the dealership cant help me, and it's only a matter of time. Secondly, being in NJ, we have had a 'flood' of flood cars come on the market. They are going for basically scrap. Admittedly, they probably are scrap, but lets say for instance in a perfect world I found the perfect candidate for a swap...could it be done? I MUCH prefer the styling of my XJR than the newer XF, the XJL is a maybe, but again, like the XJR more. Thanks for indulging my lunacy for the time being!

I am all for thinking outside the box but this may be a lot easier............
Contact ZF and ask for help or post your problem on this forum
or
replace gear box only
or
Replace internals from another box if that will solve your problem.
or
PM Brutal and send him some money for his advice.

I'm gonna say no, for the main reason that they are on totally different platforms and tranny+engine combo wont = the XFs original dimensions, let alone where all of them are connected. Perhaps parts such as valve body and other mechanicals could be swapped with little consequences, but still need to be very careful. I've drifted to the XF and X-type for small parts like sensors (XF and X) and intake (XF), and I've actually installed the valve body from an s-type 4.2 into my xk8...using my TCM, and i've had success.

Lol I didnt think so, I'm no stranger to swapping engines and trannies, so I thought maybe I'd get lucky. Oh well. And the tranny had it's 60k flush when i first got it, AAMCO said that if the problem didnt go away they would take the cost of the flush out of the cost of a new or rebuild on the tranny.
