Every once in a while I come across a forum thread where an owners Jag has started burning or has been completely burned due to chaffed wiring or faulty wiring, causing a short.

For modern Jags, is there such a thing as a quick disconnect // connect system that could be installed at the battery so that when I am on long trips away from home, I can have peace of mind? (I could simply disconnect battery but want to avoid doing that)

Does anyone have something like this installed on their modern Jag?

Or, am I worrying too much.

Thanks,

It is possible. What are you willing to spend. It's insured. Buy another one.

Jag Red

The trim model I have is very rare (they only made 140 total) // it has less than 12k miles.

So, it's not like it would easy to find the same trim level at same low miles or condition if something happened.

That's mainly why I am asking.

Would I be able to take it to an authorized Jag dealer and they could do it? Or, would I need to take it to a specialized center?

Thanks,

Here is one example of a battery isolator:

Heavy Duty Fixed Key Battery Isolator Switch (300A) | eBay

I understand your concern, but if you really want to worry how about this one?
The Jag is bumped in the street and normally it can be repaired but since it is aluminium the repair is a lot more expensive (for reasons I do not really understand) and the precious Jag is scrapped by your insurance co.

This is the scenario I worry about and have made enquiries about buying the wreck if this happened.

Newer Jags don't catch fire at any greater rate than other cars. The days of Joesph Lucas are long gone.

Don't forget that if you disconnect the battery, all the presets in memory also disappear.
