The sun roof switch has become a problem. The car is an 04 XJ8. The switch does not work on the auto close/open, nor does the open position work. In order the work the sunroof I have to hold the close button on the first position and run the sun roof through the complete vent/open/close cycle and guess as to when the roof is closed. It is not hard to do at speed as I get a little help from the wind noise...however!!

In unison with that switch, the global close operation does not work. Global open is fine.

The dealer suggested that I disconnect the negative battery cable, wait a couple minutes, touch the negative cable to an insulated portion the of positive cable and connect the battery. He said that would reset the entire system.

Does any of this sound familiar or plausable?
