Thanks for taking the time to view this thread. I own a 2005 Jaguar Super V8, VIN #SAJWA73B15TG36787. My sunroof is non-functional; the right side track is broken. Assuming a worst case, I need the frame and track assembly, the part I need should be C2C39076. Is that correct?


Now onto the second half - I purchased (with a 30 day refund) a fully functional assembly from a 2005 XJ8 L, VIN #SAJWA79C95SG45220. I see that there were two possible parts for that year: one for a 2005 XJ8 from VIN N54443 (also P/N C2C39076), and a second for a 2005 XJ8 to VIN H15749 (which is P/N C2C39075).


My questions: given the two VIN numbers, did I buy the correct part? Also, assuming I did, how much labor is involved in removing the faulty assembly and installing a new one?


Any help here is greatly appreciated! I have lots more information available, if needed.


One last note: the assembly I bought has the number 4W93-54502B98-AB0LHJ.

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply! Just as a backstory, I hired a guy to replace the headliner. Never trust Yelp, I guess. Guy managed to smash the back left window, amazingly. I'll give him credit; the headliner looks great - since I posted, I did some sleuthing on the VIN codes. The "73" is code for XJR/sport, and "79" is for a LWB XJ. The "B" vs "C" is an emissions code, and the next didgit is a check digit - both should be irrelevant to my purposes. "S" vs "T" has to do with the assembly plant, and both are in the same VIN bracket (the 2005 MY ran from G34528 to G49700), so both cars fall in that range. I checked a parts catalog (SUNROOF.. Fits: 2005 Jaguar XJ8 L 4.2L V8 Automatic | Byers Jaguar) , and it appears both should be fully interchangeable with C2C36707. I only paid $165.37 for the used assembly, so if someone can swap this thing out in a few hours I'll call it a win.
