Supercharger service issues. Also mass air flow sensor.
I've found a 2006 Super V8 that I'm very interested in purchasing. But in reviewing the service records I've become concerned about work that was done at the 10K service. The owner complained of a belt squeaking noise at cold startup, and the dealer replaced the engine belt, the supercharger belt, the s/c belt tensioner, the s/c idle pulley and the s/c pulley bracket. Also, the owner said the CEL was on, and the dealer replaced the mass air flow sensor. Are these common problems? Should I be concerned that these problems arose with only 10K on the car?
Thanks for any input.

Hey,
Mine is brand new 2008 XJR and I heard a squeek around 700 miles when it was cold out. Haven't heard it since. I Wouldn't be worried about that stuff...Belts are rubber, harden when cold and may squeek a little..but I agree..it does sound like the dealer replaced everything it possibly could to get paid...

As lew said they completely did everything to it plus the car has a warranty so better now then down the road, i wouldnt be worried at all, id actually be pleased because stuff like this could mean the owner is very detail oriented and particular where as most people might not notice and then it could be a huge problem down the road!

I bought an SE 06 Super V8 from my local dealer. The service record was clean, but ......
The engine squeeked when cold. The list you have of replaced parts looks very, very familiar. Fixed the problem and no recurrance of the noise. As mentioned above, the service manager must have smiled (like this ) at all the stuff he got Jaguar to pay for under warranty. I am not worried at all by the occurance. Seems to be something that occasionally shows up.

theres a bulletin from Jaguar, and thats wht they want replaced, has nothing to do with throwing parts at the car. Theyre changed and have to be replaced as a supersession(sp) so you get them all . And personally I hate that job cause it pays what the same thing did when you could actually see the belts opening the hood, much harder now and same pay

Thanks Brutal. Good to know about the bulletin. I really shouldn't doubt my dealer as they have been very good to me over the years. Nothing like my wife's BMW dealer at all. Her 650i is currently sitting at her dealer waiting for parts to fix an electrical problem. It's been 8 days and for the fourth straight day, "The car will be ready tomorrow".
