So I noticed a coolant smell when I first took delivery of my SV8 in March. I looked it over very closely and put maybe a cup of antifreeze in the overflow tank and them checked it every other day. The level did not change, after the weather warmed up an I was not longer turning on the heat the smell went away. Now it has gotten cool again I been noticing the coolant smell again but the level in the tank has maybe dropped a couple of mm. We are getting ready to drive from Utah to California on a trip so the smell was eating at me I did not want to have a catastrophic breakdown hundreds of miles from home. So after some research on the forum many times it was suggested to get a look at the hoses on the throttle body. So I started to look real close at the hoses on the back side of the engine before taking all of the covers off and found the culprit. the is a Y connection between the heater core and the the rear heater core. the hose between the was slightly leaking but is was orange and when I dug in to the area I realized why I did not see any thing when I changed the oil. Any antifreeze that may have been enough to cause a drip would have been going behind the heat shield. Luckly it is just a plain piece of 1/2" heater hose, so it is easy to fix. I've added pictures to show the offending hose and Y and the location hopefully it will be helpful for someone else.
