Pictured is one of the #8 hex bolts attaching the thermostat tower. The only wrench that I can get on it is the open-end of a box wrench (spanner for the Limies). This will not work for fear of rounding the head. I cannot get the ring end on the hex head. I have a weirdly shaped & thin vicegrip that will work, but I am concerned about breaking the bolt. I have applied PT Blaster. If there were only room for a socket!
Any ideas? I have never used heat before to release a fitting. I have an electric heat gun that gets pretty hot. Is using the heat gun an option for this application.
Well, while I talk to meeself, seems the goshdarn #8 actually bolts another thingamajiggy! There is a torx screw that appears to be holding the thermostat tower. Stay tuned.
