Fair price at the time IMHO (I paid $15k in October 2015 for 2008 with 86k mi) and $1300 in maintenance /repairs is expected for similar vintage big luxury car for 1.5 year period. You just need to drive it more often. This car is meant to be a miles eater; take it on a road trip. Don't blame me if you decide to sell the Jeep later.

I just installed new Michelin Pilot AS3 and I couldn't be happier. Can I still lose traction? Yes, but only on wet/ non-ideal conditions. My car isn't 400HP monster but 0-30 mph is around identical between both models. I would invest in proper Ultra High performance all season tires before you give up on the R. I would wait on the intake, exhaust, wheels, and other mods. Power is nothing without control. Get better rubber.

I had a three-week-rental Veloster. A few days in, I asked Avis to trade it for something less awful.

No longer available even tho still advertised.

Except for the lack of an LSD, which I will rectify, the handling on my 2005 XJR I rate as excellent. Quite firm with negligible roll in hard cornering. I have driven, owned, a few high performance cars and rate my car fairly high in this respect.
Am surprised when someone says "like riding on jello"!

I have a Super V8, I know it runs on softer suspension but I have always found it runs very, very flat around corners, I have seen it up to 150mph and handles brilliantly.

I am glad that you still have XJR.... Does still turn a smile on your face everytime you drive it?

Since I decided to keep the car, I installed new wheels and tires and a 12" inch subwoofer.

The new tires (all season) believe or not, provide much better traction that the Yokohama Advan V105s UHP summer tires.

Note I can punch it and the traction control is less intrusive. Feels much faster of the line.

So yes, it puts a smile on my face.

Up next in getting the Mina performance package which includes exhaust, intake and tune plus SC pulley.

I hope the exhaust sounds louder than stock although I'm a bit concerned it may be too loud since I have no resonators, just an X pipe.

Lets see the pics of the wheels and audio upgrade...

What sub and amplifier combo did you use?

I have 12" Alpine Type R in a ported box with 1000W Alpine monoblock. IMHO, it is too much output.

Since installing the Quaife LSD in my XJR it is a lot quicker off the line.

Before the Quaife the car seemed to "skip" from side to side and feel strange.

Now even tho wheels spin no skipping.

The sub was a Belva box with a Kenwood woofer. Long story short, I ordered the combo from Sonic Electronix and they probably didn't notice the sub they sent me was blown. so I went to Best Buy and bought what they had to test if the issue was something else. Turns out the Kenwood sounds pretty good.

I ordered a Bazooka marine class D amp. 320 watts RMS @ 4 ohms.

Wheels and tires from DTD, 20" VOXX Lago with Falken Azenis FK 450

An LSD would be nice!

I decided not to tap into the factory sub wires because the wiring diagram gave me the impression that the subs were wired in series (or maybe parallel I don't remember).

Your black Cat look very sharp; Boy! If you get rid of this Cat and buy a Hyundai, stop at the red light and an XJ stop beside you; You'll hit yourself in the head:"Screw the discount!"
