Default Time to change/flush coolant in my 2006 XJR.

Need "how to" advice for this model. Do I need to get coolant out of heater core as well? Do I need to do anything (coolant wise) to super charger? Any refill procedure to prevent air pockets? I have changed and flushed cooling systems on other cars, but never on a jaguar that wasn't an E type. The manual says to do this change at 40,000 miles. Mine is close to 41k miles

There is no different from flushing coolant from Jag than any other cars except for couple last tasks. You need to turn on the heater so the secondary pump turns on and circulates coolant to entire system and remove art pockets. You will see coolant level drops as soon you turn on heater. Check coolant again after couple hours driving and most likely you will need to add couple more ounces of coolant.

My car is a 3Ltr V6 so might be different but I find that removing the bleed screw on the header tank while I fill the system through the filler cap gets rid of a lot of air. As Annamiata mentioned you'll probably have to top it up after a while so after being caught short in the wilds with the Low Coolant message on I always carry a container with some coolant in after draining and refilling the system.

As PDMiller states, I do exactly the same when I have to change the coolant on my 4.2 XJ. Remove the bleed screw on the top of the coolant tank and fill up the coolant. Then put back the bleed screw and run the engine up to temperature with the cabin heater controls on full heat and on full speed until the car reaches normal operating temperature, keeping an eye that the temperature does not go too high. Then let the car cool down and check the levels in the morning and for the next couple of days and top up accordingly, before you start the car or drive anywhere. I always keep a two litre bottle of coolant in the boot especially after doing any work to the coolant system. The last time I replaced all the coolant I had to top up about three times over almost two weeks until it became stable. Each time it took about 1 litre. It's been stable ever since for months now though.

They do need coolant added several times to get them fully filled.
Have never owned anything that had this issue, not all that big a deal, just A P I T A.
