What is the condition of both? Do you know how the maintenance records look? I would be quick to say yes since you are going to a more refined model, newer with half the miles. But if your VDP is in great shape and you have kept up with the maintenance, it might be a keeper.

The grass is not always greener on the other side.... It would be good to know how well the Xj8 has been taken care of. There's a thread here with the common issues on the x350, check to see if any of those things have already been replaced or worked on. Those are the main things I would look at before making a decision.

But otherwise you do get a nicer ride, CATS is a very comfy suspension (until a strut goes out). The interior is bigger, more room. Better sound system. More power. Better transmission. More reliable engine. Overall it is an upgrade, but I have seen some rough ones out there so be careful!

Do you have pictures?

Condition of the 04 would probably be the deciding factor for me.
If your 01 has had all the maintenance as well as the necessary upgrades.
Might want to keep it, as we all know, the resale price, really sucks, if your selling.

I love my 2008 VDP but I also miss my 2001 VDP because it was a luxury tank!

With the 2008 (X358), I get speed, luxury and reliability. It’s a lighter machine but it doesn’t feel cheap. It is definitely a Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas!

With the 2001 (X350), you can get the same without the lighter aluminum body but you have to get the engine inspected for the dreaded plastic timing chain tensioners. Once they fail, and they will fail.....you’re looking at a catastrophic destruction of the engine in terms of bent valves, requiring engine rebuild/transplant. Look up that topic in the forums or online via Google or YouTube, you’ll see what I mean.

I wish I had taken that more seriously back when I first heard of it. I paid the price unfortunately, but you live and you learn....

Good Luck!!
