Default WD40 cures oxidation on aluminum door trim

Read an article on the many uses for WD40. It looks like it can do everything but cure cancer. One thing it did was restore my aluminum door and window trim on my 09 VP. Soft cloth sprayed with WD40 then wipe the trim. That's it. Like new

That's a great tip! I would just caution that WD40 is petroleum-based and not safe for all plastics. According to the WD40 website, "Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD40..." That doesn't sound too bad, until you start to look at all the things on our cars that are made of polycarbonate (headlamp lenses, chrome-plated plastic trim) and polystyrene (plastic trim, lamp lenses, and virtually every other type of plastic part in the car). So if you're going to use WD40 on your aluminum trim, it would be prudent to keep it away from all the plastic bits.

Cheers,

Don
