My 2006 X8L has somewhat of a weird issue with the intermittent wipers. The first time I use the intermittent setting the wipers only go half-way thru the cycle. However, if I hit the wiper switch three times, the intermittent setting then works fine. It almost seems like a logic error or a problem initializing the wipers though.


I saw some other posts that indicate it could be a relay (R4 or R8). I may try that, but I won't be replacing the wiper motor due to cost.

 

Had this same issue on my '06 XJ. Dealer replaced the wiper motor under warranty. Also said they did update a ground strap near the wiper motor from some TSB, but did not solve my issue.

Even after that and a new wiper switch/stalk, my intermittent settings have a mind of their own. No matter what setting they seem to wipe too fast. Owner's manual says the low setting is something like 20 seconds between wipes. Anyway, that's another story for another time. But you'd think a British car would at least have wipers that worked well...
