Has anybody considered replacing their standard windows with actual tinted glass panes instead of the silly stick-on 3M foil which starts peeling after a couple of hot summers?

How much would new windows cost (if they are available) ?

 

I haven't had issues with quality tint peeling but our hot weather only lasts 3 weeks per year. Has anyone else had issues with this on their Jag?

 

Quality tint product such as SolarGuard, properly installed, will last the life of the car. I speak from experience in one of the hottest states, Florida.

 

Several years ago I purchased a used Mercedes Benz 560SEL. Awesome car except when it arrived on the car hauler I saw that the window tint was an incredibly ugly purple. This did not translate in the sellers website photo's. I was told this was the result of one of the many Florida bargain window tint companies. I had this tint scraped off and redone with a quality 3M window tint installed by a very reputable installer. The owner I sold the car to still has the car and the 3M tint looks great. I agree with jahummer...quality tint should last the life of the car.

 

So how much would one expect to pay for SolarGuard or 3M window tinting?

 

Well,

I had mine done in Toledo, OH and paid $125.00 but that was 4 or 5 years ago. Based on the economy it should now be $49.00!! (just kidding) I think it's still around $125. No idea what it costs in other areas of the country.

 

Around here it ranges from $150 to $300 at established reputable shops. Ten years ago it was about $100 to $150.
