I have never used the W/S washer in 15 years, but I did change the fluid because I thought that was the problem with the "low fluid" message, that did not correct the problem.
I think I will just dis connect (open) the circuit and see if that removes the message.

OK, some updates on "her" Jag
I had to drive her car for awhile and the warning kept coming on with every start but I could clear it.
So today I was under the car for maintaince and remembered this post. so I just dis connected the plug on the bottom of the bottle and the "Open Circuit" cleared the dash warning Low Fluid.
We have never used the washer so I doubt I will ever run out of fluid!

The low washer fluid light stays on in my 1997 xk8. Could it also be the sensor?

I have a 2008 X358 which has a totally different design/location for the washer fluid tank. The picture below is the plug and I assume there are three circuits, one for windshield spray motor, one for headlight spray motor and one for the fluid low sensor.

I also suspect the two large black wires are ground for two motors and the black/white is probably sensor ground.

Can any one verify my assumption and/or point me to an X358 wiring diagram?

Thanks- Randy

Actually, never mind. I figured out which pump was still working and just re-plumbed that pump output hose to widshield hose. Could care less if headlamp washers are squrtin' 😁

Lucky you, in Germany the car would not pass the MOT, and thus not be road legal anymore, if I did that. Working headlight washers are mandatory for cars with HID lights.

I have attached the electrcal guide for the 2008MY.

Best regards,

Thomas

Thank you so much fpr the wiring PDF. I have that for my 1986 XJ6 and never needed for XJ8, but glad I have. But now I am curious. I hacked the pump output tube swap because my dash said "Low fluid level" even though the container was full. But the output tube for the headlight washers WAS pumping, but the pump for the windshield was apparently not. Does any one know if that is a "feature" that the windshield pump is disabled when fluid low detected.

I am guessing maybe because the windshield pump is mid container and headlight pump is at the bottom. So maybe the upper pump is disabled to protect it? In a nutshell though, I believe my fluid level sensor is not operating properly and hence the dash msg even when container is full.
