This may be a pointless question, but at nearly 180K miles (40K since I fell in love and adopted this stray 2006 long blue cat) can I assume that none of the original struts (i.e. shocks within the strut) are worth keeping?
I am trying to determine just how many struts I should replace. Only one appears to have any leak, and it is audibly obvious in warm temps and comical in cold weather ...however, the ride quality seems to be suffering more than from just a leaky strut. the "road noise" seems excessive and "smooth" no longer can describe the ride as every pebble or crack can be felt. I have been chasing the "clunk" in the front ...and although I have found and replaced multiple subpar bushings...there has been no Eureka! moment.

I have tried multiple reman struts (A1Cardone twice, RMT) for the leaking one...all failed within the warranty period...so i am running the original again...
Does any have suggestions on how to comparatively test the shocks...as I said I think the air bags are okay except the one...



Are new Bilsteins my only option for happiness?
