New 2007 XJR owner here and apologies if this has been discussed in other threads, but my front upper ball joints are in need of replacement and the Jaguar dealer is quoting me $700+ for new control arm assemblies. My question is can I replace just the upper ball joints or do I need to go all in and buy new upper control arms with the included ball joints?

 

Run away from the dealer and find an independent mechanic, if you can't do it yourself. You cannot replace just the balljoint, you must replace the entire arm. There are many aftermarket options available, some for less than $100/pair. The job is not overly complicated but you must remove the shock assemblies in order to remove/replace the arms.

 

Looking at SNG Barratt, these are priced at $534 !! However looking elsewhere, one can find them for far, far, less, and still the correct Lemforder part

The Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird of that vintage are the same as the XJ part.
I ordered mine from Delray Ford and they were 112.00 each for the Lemforder part.
500.00 for all four. The boots and bushings were all SHOT.
Look on eBay for Lincoln LS UCA of 2003 - 2006 vintage. If a Ford dealer lists them, jump on it.

 

Thanks for the replies. After searching some other threads, I found the Lemforder part numbers for the Lincoln LS assemblies and ordered them from Rick Auto. Can anyone confirm these are the correct part #s?

That is the correct part. They are closing them out. The Motorcraft are the same. But 60.00 dollars more. 82.00 is a bargain.
