Default Xj8 2004 vp sway when acceleration and deceleration

My xj8 2004 VP sway when accelerating and decelerating. Any idea what can cause this problem. It feels like it is windy outside.

Check for play in the toe links on the rear knuckles. Hope that's the right terminology. They are the links that are used to adjust rear toe. If they have play they will allow the rear to steer the car with the throttle.

Jack a rear wheel off the ground and then push/pull on front and rear of tire. You should not feel any play doing that. Do the same to both sides separately.
If it sways to the same side on acceleration each time the bushing is most likely on that side.

Ok, I did what you suggested.I jacked the car and the rear driver side wheel has a play in it.

Two things can contribute to the problem - the lower wishbone bushes, (notorious for a short life), and also the rear tracking rod where the ball joint can fail due to the protective boots failing and water getting in. I had to have both sides wishbones replaced, plus one track rod.

I replaced the toe links, a first for me , I bought the replacement at Rock Auto (DORMAN 524415) $16.81 a piece.
I set them about the same length as the one I removed.

Now the car runs excellent. Going for an alignment tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for the help.
