Default xj8 Vanden Plas

I have a 2005 VandePlas and had the tranny cover replaced recently. Now my car skips btn first, second and third gears----smooth as silk after this If I step a little harder on the gas pedal from a stop it will rev up and then hesitate enough to make me move forward in my seat then she catches...thoughts??

What 'tranny cover' are you referring to? If the gearbox was serviced with an new pan/filter and fluid, the fluid level should be checked as it's most likely low.

Hi,

My bad...I used the wrong terminology..my trans pan was leaking around the seal so I needed to reseal it--was informed can't do that need entire new trans pan--changed it on 5/27/2020
I thought this was a sealed unit so I shouldn't be losing fluid---they put in 6 qts at the time of change?

HELP!!

Best practice is to replace the mechatronic sleeves and square thingy as they crack, harden, compress and leak with age - also the connector grommet. Not sure of their exact names. This would explain your issues and is fairly common.

You can have the fluid drained, drop the pan and then valve body and do these repairs. There are write ups on this forum. The fluid and pan can be reused.
