XJR vs Super V8 swb value
X350 variety... I know the super v8 performance wise short wheelbase is about the same as an XJR, but wondering which has more value. I know there aren't too many short wheel base Super V8s around... It seems like there's pluses and minuses to both. Either you want a little cushier car with more luxury or something with a little more performance flair. Thoughts on which one would be most desirable to you Thanks!

The Super V8 is the Top-of-Line model (though still has options). Therefore it has the most value. (since you asked about value).
Though relatively rare, I personally know of 3 Super V8's in this lil' ol' country. So there's at least 3 lucky people in our population of 5 million.
There are some threads here not too old specifically referencing the Super V8.
Enough dreaming, back to my V6...
"Value" is relative. Our babies are not popular because most of the population is ignorant. Ignorant...sensible... whatever.
I know of a "super" Super V8 that recently went at Turners Auctions for probably half it's value. But then, the buyer was a Jag enthusiast who could maintain it himself.
(just reading about valley hoses and superchargers gives me the *******)

At the time these cars were made, X350 sales were not breaking any records. The profit in a Super V8 is much higher than a diesel, so I'm sure the dealers will have courted buyers interested in them. I believe that if you stated the exact spec of a car you wanted, it would be built to order. Apparently for 2008, the Super V8 was not a listed model, but the buyer of mine obtained one, and there are others out there.

You mentioned the car had no rear aircon at it is a SWB, mine is a 2004 UK SWB Super V8 and it has the rear air con and also the rear heated and electric rear seats.

As roviw states, SWB does not automatically mean no rear aircon. Depending on the market, it might have been standard also on SWBs, but it was for sure available as an option here in Europe.
Valley hose and supercharger issues are the same with XJRs and Super V8s, and of course also with the Daimler Super 8.
Regarding rarity, I seem to remember from another thread that Jaguar built around 11000 XJRs, but only around 1250 Super V8s. The Daimlers are even rarer, with less than 900 produced.

I'm pleased to be corrected. It seems the car options could be specified by the first owner without many restrictions. The only thing you are missing is the rear legroom!
With a LWB the problem is getting floor mats the right size for the rear. I ended up buying two sets of cheap mats in the right colour. The front ones fitted really well in both the front and the back. I used the rear ones for the boot floor.

My general daily is a 2015 XJL and they have huge rear legroom .
Regarding the floormats in your car, over here there are companies that will custom make floor mats for any car, I got a couple of sets for a friend where we templated the floor spaces, his were for a couple of classic BMW's from the 70's, he chose the colours and the binding colours etc.
In the UK the Super V8 and Daimlers are very rare, the most covetted model however is the 2006 portfolio with the "proper" aluminium side vents on the wings, generally only made in black but I think in the US they also did Winter gold, I have never seen a winter gold one here in the UK though.

Think how rare Super V8s are in a country of only 5 million on the other side of the world, 80% of whom drive ex-Japan imports. I have the only X350/8 Super V8 in the local Jaguar Drivers' Club (world's first JDC outside England), but there are several XJRs and other X350/8 cars.
Pete M
Yes the black cherry paint does have a kind of red metalflake in it, absolutely spectacular in the sunshine. Great that you have such an unusual car over there and a unique one in the JDC group. My super v8 is Radiance Red and looks lovely as well.
