Default Xjr x pipe

Hey everyone, for those of you who may be contemplating doing an exhaust modification, below is a video link of what I did to my XJR over the weekend.
I had the two center resonators removed. The video sounds much better with larger speakers and sub. Let me know what you think. Sorry for the extra large pictures. Total cost was $200 including labor. I think it sounds more exotic than your regular run of the mill V8.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. The car has trouble maintaining traction when pushed hard off the line. I like the sound. My opinion is that since XJRs are fast from the factory, minor performance modifications are not discernible from a butt dyno perspective.

Thanks. The only thing is that when you step on it, as soon as you are at the top RPM range you don't hear the exhaust because of the supercharger, airbox (I think) and tunnel sound.

That's exactly what I did to mine, with the addition of the Mina exhaust. Sounds awesome.

I should have mention that in my OP. There is absolutely no drone. Cruising is almost as quiet as the original setup. You can hear it under light acceleration but it is subtle. Only when you apply WOT can you hear it growl.

Also, it makes a nice growl when you start and stop the engine, and sometimes on deceleration. No popping or anything like that. Definitely not like the F-Type.

To me, the tone is similar to an older European sports car. Doesn't sound like an exotic, and doesn't sound like a muscle car. Hard to explain, but every cool. I've had it for about two months now and I still love the sound everyday. And keep in mind, I have the non-supercharged engine, so I bet the XJR sounds even better.

One more thing...the difference in sound and volume is definitely noticeable, because my girlfriend noticed and she never notices anything. Her engine could be throwing a rod and she wouldn't notice.

I did this to my Xkr back then its awesome! Not much difference in sound from regular 8 or R supercharged. These engines just purr when those resonators are deleted. im debating whether to do it to my current jaguar

Im running the same basic setup with the addition of cats and pipes

Pipes from the Engine to cats are 3in
Cats are 100 cell units
3in to the x pipe
2.5in from the x pipe to the rear boxes

Sound is almost the same as the video posted but has a higher tone, probably due to the cats.

The sound is great but a bit to noisy, it lost that stealth/sleeper factor you get from an XJR. I find it hard to hear the supercharger (with cadofy pipe) now.

For me im going to lower the sound level but keep the overall sound.

Next step will be install a pair of Dynomax VT's (Lukey VT in OZ) between the xpipe and rear mufflers.

These have a flap internally to bypass the muffler. This happens with high flow
So when you hit the loud pedal it will be the same but around town nice and quiet

Cheers
