1995 X300 - replacing steering rack
Is the removal and replacement of the steering rack on a 1995 X300 fairly straightforward, and do-able by an experienced home mechanic?
How about installing a seal kit in the old rack? Think said experienced home mechanic can handle that, or would it be advisable to buy a rebuilt unit?
Thanks!

from my experience with the 1995 xj6, i find is easier to just change it. it is striaght forward. SALVAGE YARD! i replaced one by myself and it took me 2.5 hours of labor. i recommend you use (2)two people! you have (4)four mount bolts w/nuts to the subframe, (2)two trans lines to unit, and (1)one steering nuckle screw/nut. the order in which you remove it, is very important. THE TRANS LINE FIRST, and then the rest. ps: always use your repair manual when doing these types of repairs. SAFTY IS #ONE!!!
