Default 1995 xjr-6 Lt1 conversion HELP

First I wish to say hello to you fellow Jaguar enthusiasts, thanks for taking the time to read my first post..

I currently own a 1995 xjr-6 I obtained it about a year ago and it was running like a dream, but like all dreams it came to an end. In these recent months my jaguar has been nothing but a hassle.

It all began with a transmission light showing up out of the blue one day.
I didn't think much but the second time it appeared the car was subject to high rpm's and hard shift.

I brought it to a mechanic he said " the transmission needs to be rebuilt " so i saved some money and had it rebuilt but the problem was still there.

( While the transmission was being rebuilt the car began to have a starting issue. While looking into the starting issue they found out the ecm had some moisture in it ruining the terminals.)

So being a foolish person I continued using the jag as a DD till one day the speedometer starting going haywire. As soon as I pulled into my driveway the car makes a loud pop sound all my fluids are rushing into the street and smoke is pouring out from underneath the hood.

So I parked it on the side and I'm here now asking for info about these lt1 swaps .. please any info would be much appreciated

What would you need to complete a swap
Is it reliable
Any shops in the tri-state area that do these swaps nj/ny/ct
Has anyone ever done this on a x300

Thank you very much

Andrew at Jaguar Specialties is your best bet.

That said, is there something wrong with your engine? If not, just get the transmission fixed. It's a GM 4L80E set up for Jaguar use.

Easier than an engine swap.

Cheers

What fluids? Oil? Antifreeze? I would think that would be the place to start.

Thank you for the reply. It was the anti-freeze and theres no point in getting a new transmission when the computer that controls the car is not working. I've searched up and down and still cant find a ecm for a supercharged inline 6.

And I had a brief conversation with jaguar specialties .. nice people .. they said that I would have to find a motor, tranny, and wiring then call them and get their kit but I don't know any local mechanics good enough for the job.

Well, there are lots of options and choices to consider.....

Including.....

Buying anoher XJR.

The market is very low on these cars. I'll bet $5000 would buy a nice one. Balanced against buying a conversion kit, used motor-trans-wiring-ECU, and paying a shop to intall it (if you can find one) I have to wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to simply replace the car?

Buy a good one and recoup some money by "parting out" the old one?

Just a thought

Cheers
DD
