1997 XJR Brake light problem
Over 3 years of ownership, and still loving this 97 XJR. It has a few little things I'd like to address, but this one especially.
The brake lights in the taillights are staying on whenever ignition is on, yet the 3rd brake light in rear windshield isn't. It works correctly. At first I thought it was the brake light switch, but looking at the wiring diagram, it only has one switch, and it connects to the transmission control module. Any thoughts?

Yes there is only one brake light switch but there are 2 separate relays.
The lights in the rear clusters are controlled via a relay in the rear lamp control unit which is in the boot beside the fuse box. There is a separate individual relay for the high level lamp.
The relay in the control unit could be stuck on or shorted. You could try giving it a few sharp taps to see if the lights go out.
