Just removed the exhaust manifold shield to check for cracks. I did this as a result of a suggestion from one of the members that repalced his manifolds. He said there was never any audible warning as there hasn't been with mine. But, there are hair line cracks in both manifolds. With the engine running I cannot feel any exhaust flow through the cracks which probably explains why there was no audible warning.
I do intend to replace them in the near future and would like any suggestions regarding replacement parts. And, has anyone actually attempted welding the cracks. Cast iron can be welded if you really know what you're doing.
Any ideas, comments, critiques would be appreciated.

Some have reported success with stitch welding.
I found good used manifolds on Ebay. The ones I got were for an EGR equipped vehicle. Mine isn't and EGR car. It was an easy matter to tap the hole and fit a plug.
By now there should be plenty of X300s in salvage yards so you shouldn't have much trouble finding replacements.
Cheers
