Default 96 XJR Transmission leak

96 XJR with the 4L80E. I've just bought this car and it is pushing fluid out the dipstick hole. The vent on top of tranny is not plugged and tranny is not over filled. Any ideas?

Sorry no one has offered some thoughts, and unfortunately I don't have any suggestion other than to check if it were overfilled, but you've already confirmed that isn't the case.

Since I have an XJR6 too, I'll be interested to hear if anyone else has a suggestion though.

Welcome to the X300 forum

Lots of info out there if you google 4L80e trans fluid coming out of dipstick. Big Chevy/Pontiac contingency out there with plenty of info on their forums. Just keep "XJR" out of your search and you should find plenty of insight. Same with the XJS's th400. If you search "xjs trans" not much out there, search "th400 trans" tons of info.

Local transmission shop says I'm toast or at least the transmission is. They say a bad torque convertor could cause it. Not likely though as mine makes no noise. Most likely though is a weak pump. I'll post again if /when I have a definitive answer.
