Default ABS and error codes

The ABS light's just come on after getting the car charging again ...I suppose it could be a shock reaction to suddenly having the correct voltage on the main bus, but...I'm going into the garage tomorrow to try my Autel code reader. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have Jaguar on it, so, being a '97 ( Ford era ) I'm wondering if it'll read codes as a Ford? or if simple OBD will read the fault... if not ..what are my options for reading codes for a '97 AJ16 4.0l ? is it only the iCarsoft i930 ? ..blimey ,a hundred quid ..she'll hit me with something.

Without a code reader the first step recommended is to clean the wheel sensor faces that get metallic debris on there clouding the signal over . Be careful to not try too hard to remove them as they do break . Someone suggested cleaning the rear sensors from the inside of the hub to get around this .

After that you can read the 4 sensor wire pairs as a fundamental reading of about 1300 ohms . If you jack a wheel and spin it in the correct direction you will see about 1.0 volts AC as a true functional test ..

Aye.. I'll jump through those hoops as I need to ...was just hoping for a 'not getting dirty' day tomorrow? I assume the Autel OBD reader should provide something useful. I'll see and get back

It requires a reader that sees " C " codes and the common one is C1095 and easy DIY fix .

Right oh .. I've only used that Autel a few times and the codes always begin 'C' something ..but I've always loaded the software for that make ...any way ...I'll see what happens and let you know.
