hi, I always play my radio, so have never really noticed it as much, but the last few weeks havent been listening to music as much, and noticed that when my ac is on it makes a hissing noise about every 30 seconds or so, it lasts a few seconds, goes away and comes back. Is this normal? It sounds like its cycling... It blows very cold, so I was just wondering.. thanks.

 

Are you sure it's the A/C making the noise or is it the blower motor? If the compressor is cycling you can watch the clutch from under the hood.

I ask about the blower motor only because I just finished installing a new one on my wifes car that was doing what you seem to be getting on yours.

 

sounds like to me its coming from the vents, and notice it more on acceleration rather than a stand still. I am guessing its cycling. As long as its nothing bad to do with the ac system then I will live with it. I havent had a blower installed in the car since 2006, but have had a new condensor, and ac hoses done within the last year.
