Default AC Question on xj6

hi, I have a 96 XJ6 and had a quick AC question. I wanted to know that when I do first turn my AC on int he car it blows fine just not extremeley cold, it blows cool air. As I begin to drive it gets colder as I keep it going, it does take a good 3 min or so before its extremley cold in the car. Is this normal for these cars? And is it true that the AC dosent start to get cold until you actually start driving in any type of car? thanks.

To some extent this is normal but I read where there's a sensor anomoly with X300s that makes the issue more prounounced. I can't remember the details off-hand. I'll try to find the info.

If the system is low on freon charge the same thing will happen: longer time before the air gets truly code.

The refrigeration aspect of the a/c on any car depends on air blowing across the condenser up there in front of the radiator. More air, the better, so, yes, vehicle speed can enter in. Some cars have fans that automatically come on when cold air is called for so as to pull air thru the condenser even if the car is stationary. A multitude of design variables (and ambient condition variables) make comparisons (and answers) a little difficult.

Cheers
DD
