Morning All!

Im in need of some community advice, please! I just sold my almost fully restored 1995 X300 Vanden Plas.

I am now looking to upgrade to an XJR, I have been bitten by the Jag bug......

So, questions is, what are the pros and cons of the straight 6 and V8 XJR's? I now have knowledge of the inline 6 and love the styling, so have an option to get the 1996/7 XJR, or a 1998 V8 XJR, which has the same styling I like but I dont know much about.

This is the XJR6 forum, so a expecting some bias, possibly!

The V8's have their own set of problems (octopus hose, cylinder wash, etc.) but certainly have more power than the six....
The AJ16 was probably Jaguar's finest engine, so l would definitely consider the supercharged six....
Do yourself a favour and install the "Andy bracket", which advances the ignition timing five degrees, more power and economy both 😏

The V8's were more stable by the introduction of the x350, probably a better car all around but not as sleek for sure

Thanks TMJ! That for sure helps. I have been leaning towards the 306, sure helps keep my focus. I installed the Andy bracket on my VDP and it definitely made a satisfying change.
