Hi guys,

I really need your help on this one. I accedentaly disconnected the switch in the trunk, so the car thinks the trunk is open. the button in the middle with the cat head is shot and the black key wont open the trunk. is there a way to jump a few wires to activate the solenoid without the trunk open. I just don't know what to do. Can I remove the rear seats and get the trunk open somehow? Please help! Oh, It's a '96 XJ6.

Did you try master key ? (The one that's bigger than other two keys ) .

 

The Jaguar dealer told me that the car came with two keys, a black one called a owner's key and a green one, the valet key. The only one I have is a black one. The guy at the dealership said it should work. But no joy.

 

There is no access through the back seat - I just dismantled a 96 VDP after a wreck and the fuel tank is in the way. The black key should open it if I remember right that is a mechanical connection to the latch (in case the battery is totally flat). Also, does your black key have the gold color Jaguar growler logo in it or just plain black? The plain ones are aftermarket and I have seen ones like that cut to Valet style. You have to check if there is an extra cut at the bottom for owners key (hard to explain and I do not have my keys anymore or I would take and post a pic)

If you get it open and need some repair parts, I think I have a few items left from the trunk mechanism in boxes (middle button, maybe an actuater, dunno have to look)... PM me if interested enough for me to drag out the boxes.

My key is the one with the gold growler logo. Im going to try with shooting lots of wd40 in there and see what happens. I was just hoping there was some sort of trick to it.
