resoldered a loose connector on the glass, thought it was a defrost element until i noticed the the “high security antenna” text behind it.
remote fob previously worked fine without the wire connected. is this wire running to it just for defrosting the two antenna elements, or is it the antenna itself?
The wire running to it is for your security system antenna. The configuration is an indicator of what SLCM/fob system you have. Yours indicates a 433 MHz , though the actual SLCM/fobs may be 315 MHz according to the info.
neat! being a 97 it should have a full 433mhz system, but my 433 garage door cloner doesn’t seem to be able to copy the signal up from my remote. might have to dig in and find out if the SLCM has been touched.
still pretty interesting that it worked without most of the contact to the window element.

Welcome to the forums xalty,
We are an International forum and specifications of Jaguars vary across World markets. We can guess you have a 1995-97 XJ but engine and body are unknown. An approximate Location is also useful as it affects many aspects of the build specification.
