Angry Broken Sunroof Question

My sunroof is pretty crewed up as I've explained in other posts, but I was wondering about a specific piece. There are 2 cloth pieces up there...one major one that takes up a lot of the space and another smaller one in the back that bends up when you tilt the back of the sunroof up. When the sunroof broke, that piece went missing and I have no idea where it is. Obviously it's up there somewhere but does anyone have any idea on where it could have gone and how to get to it?

If you know it is still in the car, it must be behind the headlining, so out this must come ! (where else could it be ?)

You are going to have to remove the headliner to do any meaningful work on the sunroof. Nothing really hard about it, but a lot of things have to be done. And then getting it out of the car so its out of the way without bending it is very very hard without removal of the windshield, but I have seen it done. If you crease it, it will always look bad. Though on your car, it probably is already starting to drop, or will in the near future - just a fact that headliners last about 10 years and the foam falls apart. A new factory match from Jaguar is close to a grand for the part, but they are still available. Most upholstery shops will be able to replace it for a fraction of that figure...

My headlining is actually holding up very well. The rear part of the headlining was drooping a little bit but I got some tacks and it holds it up just fine. (Looks like it came like that from the factory too!) Now as far as the piece I'm missing, It's just gone! I cannot find that thing for the life of me....I just want to cover it up so I don't have to see my tape-job on the sunroof.

Remove the front panel- there is a documented procedure, then find where the back panel slid back to- it slides back in the track. If it cockes sideways, it could have fallen out of the track and be lying on the headliner. If you can't see or feel it, its time to get the headliner out.
I disagee that a fold in the headline will always look bad. Try ro make the fold on the sides of the sunrrof aperture, about halfway back. Before re-installing, "finesse" the creases with your finger and a small pick type brush. When reinstallin, put double side tape on top side of fiberglas panel above creases. then "finesse:" the finished intallatin as you press up to double tape the panel to the roof underside. Ive done a few and they look good.
