Default chrome wheel arch mouldings

Hi,i seen some chrome wheel arch mouldings on e/bay i was thinking of getting a set for my x-type 2003 jaguar,i enquired at a body shop to see how much he would charge, to install them, the bodyman was giving me some kind of warning, saying you have to be careful buying these mouldings on line, and they have to be the exact curve of your wheel opening, or you will have a hell of a time trying to fit them,i was just wondering if anyone here has had any kind of experience with these mouldings, thank you for any advice,

jim

Jim, no intent here to douse the flames of your "modification" fire but... the chrome wheel opening moldings are no longer "in style. I think they clutter the clean look of your car and sort of turn it into a "Pep Boys" special. The new fad replacing the chrome wheel opening moldings are the fake adhesive "air vents". Thats my personal opinion... not that you asked for it

Getting to the jist of your question, cheap quality anything usually means a poor fit and finish. The difficulty of buying on-line is that you can't check the fit against your wheel opening. Perhaps a trip to the local retailer would help you find what you are looking for and then you can proceed of searching it out on-line...

nah, they are "classic" accessories, but usually for the older models. That being said, I'd like a set for my 95 because I'm not really ready to work on that little bit bubbling paint that's starting down there.

It's a job that you could do with a drill and a screw driver in under an hour

On internetscrapyard.com there is a set of mouldings that may just be what you are looking for. They are based in Halifax

I think around here you'll find a lot of negative opinion on these fender trims, including from me... I hate them on the XJ and XJS... but maybe they would look better on that x-type of yours! However, I hear they not only cover rust, but help create it! Nooooo thanks.

leave them alone, put some on mine a while since all they do is hold dirt and water that you dont all ways get out when washing etc then your wing arches start to rot, next stop new wings, in the took them off and though them

I fitted them to my XJ8 for the very same reason. simple and quick job and they fitted well. My car was a Sovereign so it had lots of chrome already. I thought they looked good.

My car had them when I bought it. They are stainless steel so they won't rust. I think that they look okay with all the other brightwork. I don't plan on adding them or a leaper to my XJS.
