Hey Lads,

Need to pick up a replacement actuator motor for my drivers door and wondered if all 4 doors use the same motor? I assume they do and they all look similar.

Wanting to maybe grab a motor off something other than the drivers door as they would have been cycled less.

Anyone?

Surely someone has a few old door lock motors they could check for me?

Try clicking on one of the Jaguar parts vendors and see if their part numbers coincide with different doors,if so,then your good to go!

Jaguar sells the motor and the latch as a complete assembly so naturally each position would have a different part number

If you opened up the assemblies my guess...and that's all it is....would be that there are two different lock motors, with left front and right rear being the same, and vice versa.

Cheers

All the door locking motors are inter changeable. They just use different screw hole. They are not worth trying to repair. A lot of time s you don't have to take the locking mech completely out to reach the screws and unclip the motor

All I can see is that they mount from one side or the other based on location left or right. Are the screws that hold it on to the assembly a plastic tapping screw of some sort? I don't see a metal insert on the mounting tabs from pics I have seen on the net

Hi Bernie,

This won't answer your questions directly, but since I just looked this up for a thread in the XJ40 forum I'll post it here as well in case it's of interest. Joe77 at the Jag-Lovers forum managed to resuscitate an actuator in his '94 XJ40 by cleaning and lubricating the motor and he posted photos here:

Fixing Door Actuator Motor

Cheers,

Don

Have to say that after repairing many of these door locks they never last or work well. Its just two self tappers screws if I remember without reaching down on the floor to check. Getting lazy in my old age.

Thanks Lads,

Managed to snag the proper one for a deal.

Hopefully, I will get another year or so out of it as we are looking into selling the car now for an upgrade.
