Door locks again... diagnosis
Hello, my 97 has had inoperable locks for longer than I care to admit. After moving into a new place and repeatedly having my interior rummaged through by homeless, I've finally found the motivation to solve this issue.
The drivers door lock pull pin has been jammed and the barrel inoperable. Today I removed the actuator and key barrel and lubed with wd40 and reinstalled. Not a fun job, but could be worse I suppose.
So now key turns the barrel and locks/unlocks car. When putting the car in drive it auto locks then promptly unlocks itself. When locking with the keyfob or with the drivers side manual pull, it cycles locked/unlocked three times. When it trys to unlock the drivers side manual pull barely moves. The other doors manual locks operate correctly. The locking mechanism in the driver side door operates smoothly after lubricating, so I'm assuming a selanoid problem?
It's been so long since my locks have operated at all that I can't remember if I was having the same problem before everything got jammed up. I know the $500 price of a replacement actuator kept me from pursuing the repair.
How should I proceed? Is there a way to disable tbe central locking and alarm system and just manualy lock the doors?
I see the part number is the same from 1995-2003. Is the wiring the same?
