Default Drive Cycle (Code)

On the 95 XJ6, I have reset one of my codes. I have let the car idle about 20 times for about 15 minutes each time. The code hasn’t returned. Is there a “drive cycle” for the code to reappear (if it does)?

Yes , it's in some document somewhere as I saw it before or in someone with more experience head . Involves throttle and load range over a course of time . Some codes or flags on flight instruments are inhibited by design and won't show until conditions are satisfied . With the ABS/Traction control it is the velocity of 12.5 MPH . Do you have the code number ?

My codes were 1191 1192 1185 1186. I replaced all four o2 sensors. Before replacing them, the light would come back on after a minute after I had cleared the codes. Now, I have started the car as mentioned many times without the light. That was why I was asking about the actual drive cycle.

Sincerely appreciate your help.

Probably satisfied the drive cycle requirement but probably wasn't required as you resolved the problem and manually so to say reset the code . I believe the O2 sensors are inhibited for 3 drive cycles before they show

P1185: HO2S heater circuit open circuit – both upstream sensors
P1186: HO2S heater circuit short circuit – both upstream sensors
P1191: HO2S heater circuit open circuit – both downstream sensors
P1192: HO2S heater circuit short circuit – both downstream sensors

For all the above, the monitoring condition is Engine idle <1000 rpm for >3 minutes, 20 seconds. If the fault persists, the code will reset after 2 'trips' (repetitions of the monitoring condition).

It sounds like the faults have been cleared by replacement of the sensors. If it had been a harness or connector fault, the codes would have reset.

The common denominators to all 4 codes are the one fuse that all power comes from ( Green Wire ) and the Papa Indy 61 connector that gets corroded .
