Default driver side seat belt questions

I replaced mine with a passenger side one as a temp.
Any links to a new one?
What is the connection for that leads under the seat.
My temp doesn't have it

1. on the belt - for seat belt pyrotechnic Pre-Tensioner .........?
OR
2. on the buckle - links to the seat belt warning lamp

On the buckle but no lamp is illuminating so do I have a problem that it did not detect that I unplugged it?

I first checked the Parts Catalogue. Driver and front seat passenger buckles are different P/N's:

I've just expanded the view on the Oatmeal colour but the rest of the colour options are similarly different for driver and passenger buckles.

The Workshop Manual gives further information on the difference between driver and passenger buckles:

See the second paragraph in 13.8.8 :

Front passenger seat belts are fitted with tear loop buckles while drivers seat belts have their tear loops fitted to the outboard anchorage.......

The above Workshop Manual page shows the tear loop.

In conclusion it appears that although the drivers belt will fit a passenger buckle, this is likely to compromise safety in the event of an accident.

Good advice from Graham. It's essential you fit the part designed specifically for the drivers side. The tear loops function differently on each side and fitting the wrong one will definitely compromise safety. I replaced my drivers side a few months ago. Also, be careful to note that you are buying "Drivers" side vs. "Passenger" side, as some ad's are apt to describe them as "Left" side and "Right" side without regard to the difference between LH or RH drive markets!

Ditto! My driver's side belt latch receptor is also broken. I cannot seem to find a driver's side one anywhere. If anyone has a link, I need one!! 97 VDP
