My original leather is oatmeal but after searching high and low I could find nothing used in my color.
I couldn't even find a drivers seat which is what I really needed. So I went to a local auto trim shop to see about repairing/recovering.
Cost was prohibitive so I left disappointed. That very same day I went back on EBay again and did another search.
This time I found a pair of front seats in tan leather for $200 total and I snapped them up. I called the auto trim shop again and he couldn't believe I found those seats.
And they were local too so I picked them up. The auto trim shop turned me on to a guy who dyes leather. He also repairs and dyes old cracked leather.
My rear seat deck had a hole in it and I found a great tan rear seat deck with good leather ($150) since I was going to dye the front.
So he dyed the leather from tan to oatmeal and fixed my cracked leather on the passenger seat and dyed that too.
He also repaired and dyed my door handles. I let the seat dry for two days and had it installed today.
My original driver seat was beyond repair! Dyed driver seat installed Door handles refurbished Rear seat deck dyed from tan to oatmeal. Seat back is original, no dye.
Good luck for you finding those seats, locally too! The dye looks to be very well done. It is usually worth finding an expert for such tricky work. It takes skill. Now the seats are as they should be and not a topic of (negative) conversation. Thankfully the era of blingy, buttoned back pockets is long gone.
For Australian restorers there is a local product called "CouchGuard" which has a website.
Obviously aimed at leather lounge suites however it is an excellent product for restoration of leather seats in Jaguars.
I used their product to change a grey X300 drivers seat base cover (out of a flood car) into oatmeal about 4 years ago.
It is still standing up to everyday wear.
I also used it on a very tired leather seat system in a S2 XJ6 a few years ago and it ended up looking near new.
Cheers
