I recently had a headlight go out, catched it right away due to the indicator light on the dash.
However, after replacing the bulb, the indicator light won't go out. How do I do this?
another question: came across an XJ 6 with these headlights: Are these original? common modification? do they give better visibility/are they much brighter?
I don't get a bulb failure warning on the dash when one of my headlights goes out but I do if a different bulb does so in my case I would check all the others, I don't know if that is how it should be or if it's a fault with mine.
On the other question, those are headlights from an X308, it's a common mod and quite easy to do with some slight changes to the wiring connection. Very worthwhile doing, the lights are much better.
The dash indicator should go off when all the bulbs are working. I believe in the last exciting thread on the subject it was discovered that even the license plate (number plate) lamps are sensed in the bulb circuit.
I can't really commit to liking the "look" of the X308 headlights. Personal taste. But I would agree the standard X300 headlights are not as effective as I would like.
Difference between X300 and X308 headlights are day and night, I often considered X300 headlights to be completely inadequate to driving at night or even dangerous, especially after 20 years of collecting dust and dirt.
Upgrade to XJ8 lights is by far the best thing you can do to your car and I can highly recommend it.
