Horrible noise with new radio antenna
I just put in a new radio antenna after having to remove the old one, and disassemble the motor to get out some of the old antenna too. I'm not sure if I put the "teeth" facing the right direction, but now when I turn the radio on/off and the antenna moves up/down, it makes a horrible noise, just like something louder like it normally would when functioning. I haven't greased it yet because all I've got is WD-40, so I need to run to the store for something better. My question is, will greasing up the antenna silence it, or do I have a larger issue at work?
I recently replaced mine with no issues.
I would undo the nut, eject the aerial and insert it again.
If the teeth do not locate in the gear then the aerial shouldn't 'load'.
Could just need to be re-inserted.

mine was making a loud grinding noise after replacing with new antenna insert into old motor assembly. I took the motor assembly cover off and there was about three inches of old white plastic "teeth" in there. Removed and as good as new
Yeah. I already took apart the motor and got the old bits out. I did try removing and adjusting the new antenna today, and that didn't work out. It only seems to go in one way.
Okay, now the new antenna won't go up or down and is stuck in the down position. Can I take the motor assembly apart and manually fit the new antenna in? What should I use for the lubricant in the motor assembly?
