I just purchased a 97 XJ6 the car is a theft recovery i purchased a new key from the dealer problem I am having is everytime I open the trunk or a door the alarm blares.

Sorry for the noob question i have not spent a lot of time with the car yet ,I stumbled upon this awesome forum and figured I would toss my question into the ring.

 

When you unlock the drivers door you get around 30secs to insert the key and turn on the ignition.

If this is not done the alarm goes off

I accidently got it by turning the key inside the door so many times thanks again
