Default How to get the back seats out of my 1997 XJR

I posted this in the wrong spot so am doing it here again just in case. My battery is completely dead right now and my car keys don't seem to open the trunk so I need to remove the rear seats so I can charge the battery and then us the fob to open it. Can anyone help please..

Sorry you will not get to the battery that way, you have a gas tank in the way and most people are unable to remove the tank the right way. If you have a master ( black head) key you should spray the lock with WD40 and give it a try. Do not force it and if it is a green key do not try it. You can go to this link and see places under the hood you can connect a battery or charger to get the trunk open. I hope it helps! http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairTrunkPowerAccess.htm

Saw that you got the trunk/boot open - great! I actually use the key in the trunk lock once in a while to make sure that it doesn't seize up.

In that case, and if the wire for the remote (dash/trunk button) is also broken, many people recommend cutting a hole in the trunk lid -behind the license plate - if everything else fails.
This earlier post (#8) on this forum points to using a wire through the license plate mounting holes to unlock the mechanism without cutting a hole.

Anything that helps not cutting holes in our cars
