Idle control valve setting
Hi again, well I've Made my car worse so far rather than better. While looking for the hesitation I took the throttle body off, cleaned all parts, took idle valve off & cleaned but somehow managed to pull the pin out & had to put it back by hand.
When I refitted it all the car started but wouldn't idle so I checked codes which showed p0101 & p0102. I cleared these & it started & idled fine & I left it parked until today. When I started it it ran ok then a little lumpy but cleared, I moved the car off the drive to shuffle my other cars around & when I went to re start it would fire & cut out or pop back through inlet. I reread the codes & the p0101 was back. Eventually I got it started by disconnecting the airflow meter & then it fired up & idled too & I was able to drive it onto my drive. I left it running a good ten minutes (with the airflow meter reconnected) but have I caused a problem ? Does the idle valve have to be programmed ? Or is it coincidence & do I have a duff airflow meter or sensor?.
All input welcome please

Ok, thanks for that. I did try a second throttle body which had a tps on it but then refitted original one. Could this have upset it? & if so how does the tps need resetting ?. I have a code reader but the garage I work for has Autodiagnos kit (which covers most models) or is it not more simple than that?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but I'm a little out of touch with electronic control systems

Just checked the monitor list on code reader & tps reading seems about right but air flow shows 0g/s at idle & no matter what throttle position is. This can't be right surely! Maybe airflow meter is duff !?
A bit more advice please if possible. I have checked via wiring diagram from the stickies & traced back the MAF wiring, I have battery voltage on two terminals & earth on the third. Am I right in assuming I should have battery voltage on one then 1.2 volts at idle from second & earth on third ? If so I assume the air flow meter is faulty!. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Your thoughts are correct, there should not be B+ on 2 pins, just on the black one. I assume you have measured these by back probing the connector. So before condemning the MAF, unplug the connector and check the voltages to ensure you don't have a wiring problem.
Thank you for the confirmation. I have checked continuity on the wires from ecu to multi plug of air flow meter & they all seem ok but can't remember whether I checked the B+ (I am sure I did but will double check).
